About the Exhibition
The story of a fleeting moment, a depiction of a moment in Icelandic product design over the past decade; the infancy of this discipline in times of transformation. We probe into the ideology of select designers from this time period, their collaborations across disciplines and cultural dialogues. In an environment without a traditional industry or even market, experiments and probes in new directions take on various forms. We are moved by the aesthetic and the poetic surface but underneath simmers a dream of a better world and a belief in design as a force for real change.
Something to Write Home About comprises a journey that is nowhere near its end. The story can be to us encouraging; for many, a cause for
reflection; and to most, something worth writing home about.
