Gingerbreadarchitecture

“How about placing windows here, maybe a door there, should we put a chimney on the roof – or maybe an outdoor shower?”

We build miniature scale model houses like architects – but these houses are made from gingerbread dough so we could eat them if we want to!

The workshop is led by ÞYKJÓ design team, dedicated to designing for children and with children. Their design projects include music installation space Hljóðhimnar at Harpa Music Hall, the furnitecture collections SHELLter and Nests as well as The Golden Record – Let’s Send Music to Space! ÞYKJÓ has been shortlisted for The Icelandic Design Awars in 2021 and 2022 and was nominated for the international YAM Awards in 2023.

This workshop is a part of the Family workshop series at our Museum of Design and Applied Art, taking place the first Sunday every month. Admission is free and all are welcome!
