ICELANDICPOTTERYFROM1930–1970

In connection with the registration of Anna Eyjólfsdóttir’s ceramic museum in the Museum of Design and Applied Art in recent months, the museum has asked Inga Sigríður Ragnarsdóttir to give a lecture on the history of Icelandic art from 1930–1970. The lecture will be held on Sunday 24 November at 13. Inga Sigríður is currently working with Kristina G. Guðmundsdóttir, an art historian, on a study during this period and is scheduled to publish a book next year on the occasion that it will be 90 years since production began on the pottery in Iceland in the Art Museum.

Inga Sigríður graduated from the School of Ceramics at the School of Art and Crafts, and then went on to graduate school in Munich in ceramics and sculpture. She has worked as a clay artist and taught as a part-time teacher at the Reykjavik School of Visual Arts. Inga Sigríður is the daughter of Ragnar Kjartansson, potter, as it was called, who studied with Guðmundur frá Miðdal and was one of the founders of Funi and later one of the founders of Glit.
